What it is
EmaraTax is the Federal Tax Authority's integrated online portal — the single channel for VAT, Corporate Tax, and Excise tax registrations, return filings, payments, refunds, voluntary disclosures, and audit responses. Launched in late 2022, it replaced the FTA's earlier separate VAT and Excise portals. Login uses UAE Pass, and the portal supports both English and Arabic interfaces.
Every taxable person interacts with EmaraTax — registration to obtain a TRN, quarterly VAT returns, annual Corporate Tax returns, and any FTA correspondence flows through it.

How it works
- Create an EmaraTax account using a UAE mobile number and email, then link your entity using its TRN or register for a new tax type if no TRN exists.
- Access the relevant module—VAT, Corporate Tax, or Excise—to file returns, make payments, or submit refund applications by the statutory deadline.
- Upload supporting documents when requested, such as during an FTA tax audit or when applying for a VAT refund, and respond to portal notifications to avoid penalties.

A Dubai mainland LLC with annual turnover above AED 375,000 logs into EmaraTax quarterly to file its VAT return and remit 5% output tax less recoverable input tax. An Abu Dhabi free zone company registers for Corporate Tax through EmaraTax after exceeding the small business relief threshold, then files its annual return and pays 9% on qualifying profits. A beverage importer uses the Excise module to declare and pay excise tax on sugary drinks before customs clearance.
