The AED 9,999 Umm Al Quwain licence in that advert is real. What it leaves out is the part you actually need. A licence on its own cannot open a bank account and cannot sponsor a visa. So you pay for the cheap licence, then pay again to make it work.
Our Umm Al Quwain business setup services are built to skip that second payment. We take you from nothing to a company that can trade and bank, on one fixed quote. That covers the UAQ DED licence, a proper office, your establishment card, your investor visa, and a bank-account introduction. One consultant owns the file from the first call to the day you can bill a customer.
This page explains what the done-for-you service covers, what it costs, and how long it takes. It also tells you when Umm Al Quwain mainland is the wrong choice and another option is cheaper or cleaner.
At a glance
- All-in done-for-you (typical small company): about AED 20,000 to 32,000. Licence only: about AED 8,000 to 12,000.
- Licence live in about a week. Operational with one visa in roughly 3 to 5 weeks.
- One fixed quote, with the government-fee and professional-fee split shown before you pay.
- Mandatory: a registered office. Your office size sets your visa quota, not your licence.
- We are partnered across mainland and 50-plus free zones, so our recommendation is not tied to one product.
What Our Done-for-You UAQ Mainland Setup Covers
Done-for-you means the whole journey to a working company sits with us. You do not get a half-finished licence handed back. The package covers:
- Activity classification and trade name reservation with the UAQ Department of Economic Development.
- Initial approval, then MOA drafting and notarisation.
- The UAQ DED trade licence itself.
- Tenancy registration for a compliant office.
- Your establishment card.
- Your investor visa: entry permit, status change, medical, Emirates ID and stamping.
- A corporate bank-account introduction, with full application support.
Before you pay, we also put in writing what is not in the package. That way nothing surprises you later.
- The office rent itself. We register the lease; the landlord's rent is yours.
- Staff visas beyond the package count.
- External approvals for regulated activities.
- VAT and corporate-tax registration, plus ongoing accounting.
- Attestation or translation for corporate shareholders.
That clear line between included and extra is the point. Many cheap quotes look small for one reason. The office and the visa have been quietly dropped.
What UAQ Mainland Business Setup Actually Costs
A single licence price tells you little. It leaves out the two things that make a company usable: the office and the visa. Here is the honest split. These are guide bands. We quote against your real activity, office and team size.
| What you are buying | Typical cost (AED) | What you get |
|---|---|---|
| Licence only | 8,000 to 12,000 | A trade licence you cannot yet bank on or sponsor a visa with. |
| Full done-for-you (all-in) | 20,000 to 32,000 | Licence, registered office, one investor visa, establishment card, bank intro. |
| Each additional visa | 3,500 to 5,000 each | Added to the all-in, subject to office size. |
Three things move the figure. Office type is the biggest one. A registered desk costs far less than a real unit. Visa count matters too. So does your activity, since a regulated one adds approval fees and time. A full fee breakdown sits in our companion guide, Umm Al Quwain Trade Licence Cost: AED 10k-25k Breakdown.
Government Fees vs Our Service Fee: One Fixed Quote
We quote one fixed all-in price up front. No hourly meter, no staged surprises. Inside that figure we show the split:
- Government pass-through: the DED licence, market and innovation fees, chamber fee, establishment card, and visa government fees. Passed through at cost.
- Our professional fee: a defined slice, typically about AED 3,000 to 8,000 depending on scope.
- Extra activities beyond the base carry a small per-activity government charge, commonly AED 100 to 500 each, also at cost.
You see what goes to the government and what is ours before you commit, backed by our money-back guarantee. Across more than 5,000 formations, clients tell us this fixed-price-before-payment discipline is the thing a cheaper vendor never gave them.

Tell us your activity, how many visas you need, and your budget. We will send a fixed all-in quote for your Umm Al Quwain mainland setup, with the government and service split shown.
How Long UAQ Mainland Setup Takes
On a clean file, the licence is live in about a week and you are operational with one visa in roughly 3 to 5 weeks. Stage by stage:
| Stage | Typical time | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Trade name + initial approval | 1 to 2 working days | We pre-check the activity first. |
| Tenancy registration | 1 to 3 days | Once the lease is finalised. |
| Trade licence issued | 3 to 5 working days | From clean documents. |
| Establishment card | A few days after the licence | |
| Investor visa | About 2 to 3 weeks per person | Entry permit, status change, medical, Emirates ID, stamping. |
| Corporate bank account | 2 to 4 weeks | Runs after the licence, not inside it. |
Where it slows down: waiting on a signed, registrable lease; external approvals for regulated activities running on their own clock; and scheduling the visa medical and biometrics. We pre-stage documents so the only waits left are the ones genuinely outside our control.
What We Need From You, and What We Handle
You do four things. We handle the rest.
| You do | We handle |
|---|---|
| Send your passport copy and basic KYC documents by WhatsApp. | Activity classification, name reservation, initial approval, MOA drafting. |
| Sign the MOA and forms (in person or remotely by Power of Attorney). | Every DED submission, tenancy registration, and the establishment card. |
| Attend the medical and Emirates ID biometrics in person. | The full visa process around your biometrics, plus Arabic forms and translations. |
| Approve the bank application. | Packaging and submitting the bank application. |
For overseas founders, we structure it so the only in-country requirement is the short visa-stamping visit. Most of the file moves before you land.
Choosing Your UAQ DED Activity and Licence
Getting the activity code right is the single decision that heads off the most expensive corrections later. A wrong code breaks banking and visas down the line. The licence types are:
- Commercial licence: trading, import and export, retail, wholesale, general trading.
- Industrial licence: manufacturing, production and industrial operations.
- Professional licence: services such as consultancy, management consultancy, and similar.
The activities we see most on UAQ mainland are general trading, services and management consultancy, e-commerce, building materials and hardware trading, logistics and distribution, and contracting or maintenance.
Some activities need external approvals before the licence issues: healthcare, education and training, food and F&B, transport, and financial or otherwise regulated activities. A residual set of strategic-impact or commercial-agency activities can still require an Emirati partner or local service agent. We check your exact activity against the current UAQ DED list and the ownership matrix before we quote. The first step on any setup is securing the right name, which is why we handle
trade name reservation for you as part of the package, the same way we run trade name registration elsewhere in the UAE.
Your UAQ Office, and How It Sets Your Visa Quota
A registered tenancy is mandatory for UAQ mainland. The licence will not issue or renew without one, and the premises can be inspected, so a P.O. box or an unrelated address will not pass. A pure virtual office is not a compliant mainland route.
Here is the rule most buyers miss. Your visa quota is tied to your office size, not your licence. A small office of about 100 to 200 square feet usually supports 3 to 6 visas. The more floor area, the more visas, at roughly nine square metres each. A flexi-desk supports very few.
Flexi-desk and business-centre arrangements are accepted in limited cases and may not satisfy DED for every activity, so we confirm current acceptance before recommending one; the trade-offs of flexi-desk options are worth weighing against a small private unit.
UAQ rents are low, roughly AED 30 to 80 per square foot. In Dubai they run AED 100 to 300. That gap is the real saving. So we size the office to your team and visa plan at setup. We do not sell you space you will not use, or force an office upgrade in month three.
Opening a Corporate Bank Account on a UAQ Mainland Licence
It is realistic, but not automatic. Say your licence is in UAQ but most of your trade is in Dubai. Banks look at that more closely than a Dubai licence. Expect more checks, slower onboarding, and a cooler welcome at some top banks. Plan for 2 to 4 weeks, sometimes more.
From more than 4,500 applications, here is what we do to lift the odds:
- Match you to the bank most comfortable with your profile, rather than applying blindly.
- Build a clean activity-to-transaction narrative so the KYC story holds together.
- Make sure the activity code actually matches how you will invoice.
- Prepare the business plan, projected flows and shareholder documents the way the bank's committee wants to see them.
No one can honestly promise a bank's yes. But a well-built application is the difference between a clean open and a decline. A stalled bank account is the most common way a setup fails. This is where our help earns its fee.
Who UAQ Mainland Is Right For (and When We Will Tell You to Pick Elsewhere)
UAQ mainland is the right call when you genuinely sell into the UAE market direct to customers and the licence address is invisible to that customer. We will tell you when it is not. Be honest with yourself about these cases:
| If you are... | We usually recommend |
|---|---|
| A premium B2B seller into Dubai or Abu Dhabi enterprises | Dubai mainland, where the address is part of the pitch. |
| Dependent on fast tier-one banking | Dubai, which opens more smoothly. |
| Chasing Dubai or Abu Dhabi government tenders | A licence in that emirate. |
| A pure online or international business with no UAE customers | A free zone such as UAQ FTZ or RAKEZ, cheaper and cleaner. |
If a free zone fits you better, the companion service, UAQ Free Zone Setup Consultants: Done-for-You UAQ FTZ Licence, Visa, and Bank Account, covers that route. If you are still weighing the two emirates, Umm Al Quwain Mainland vs Dubai: An Honest Comparison walks through the trade-off in detail.
2026 Compliance to Plan From Day One
Most of what is new in 2026 is federal and applies to a UAQ mainland company exactly as it does to any mainland company. We build all of it into setup, so a new company is compliant from day one instead of retrofitting under penalty later.
- E-invoicing: a voluntary pilot from July 2026, then mandatory for businesses above AED 50 million in revenue from January 2027, on the Peppol PINT-AE standard through accredited providers.
- FTA penalties: the framework was rewritten in late 2025 and tightened from April 2026.
- VAT: from January 2026, self-invoicing under the reverse-charge mechanism is gone, and excess input-VAT credits are capped at five years rather than carried forward indefinitely.
- UBO: changes must be filed within 15 days, through the DED for mainland companies.
- Corporate tax: 9% above AED 375,000, with that threshold acting as a band rather than an exemption.
We keep clients current on the new VAT rules in the UAE as part of ongoing support. Licence renewal stays tied to the original issue date, so renew 30 to 60 days early: a late renewal brings fines, service suspension, and, for mainland companies, potential blocking of the associated visas. The step-by-step is set out in Umm Al Quwain Trade Licence Renewal 2026: Avoid Late Fines.
Why Best Solution for Your UAQ Mainland Setup
Walking into the DED gets you a licence. It does not get you a working company. Buyers underrate how much sits around the licence. You need the right activity code. You need the Arabic forms and the MOA drafted. You need approvals in the right order, the lease registered, and the bank account opened. The bank account is where most do-it-yourself setups stall.
One client came to us holding a licence he could not bank on. He had bought a cheap AED 9,999 package online. The activity was too narrow, the office and visa were left out, and the bank said no because the activity did not match his business. We fixed the activity code, registered a proper office, ran the visa and establishment card, and rebuilt the bank file. It opened on the second try. He paid twice. A licence that cannot bank or sponsor a visa is not a saving. It is a down payment on a redo.
Best Solution has formed more than 5,000 companies and assisted on over 4,500 corporate accounts since 2014. We are DED and DET approved, FTA certified, and partnered across mainland and 50-plus free zones, which is exactly why our recommendation is not tied to one product. If Umm Al Quwain mainland is right for you, we will run it end to end. If it is not, we will say so.
Our wider business setup services across the UAE sit behind this UAQ mainland offer, and the broad overview of the emirate's options lives in our hub, Umm Al Quwain Mainland Licence: Cheapest UAE Setup 2026.
